Garden Design Process

  • Site Analysis and Appraisal

I will research the local area and spend time on site sketching and taking photographs. By doing this I start to understand what makes your garden special, as well as the things which don’t work and therefore can be improved.

  • Concept Design

I will work with you to create a brief so we can establish key principals for the garden. This will include how you want your garden to be used, the character of the spaces, and how they can enhance the habitat value.

  • Developed Design

Once the principals of the garden have been established between us, the design can be worked up in more detail, often with multiple options for your consideration.

  • Illustrations and Models

To help you visualise what your garden will be like, I will produce sketches and sometimes models for each area.

  • Detailed Design

I will work up detailed planting and construction plans for your garden specifying each plant and material.

  • Overseeing works on site

I will then oversee works on site to ensure that they are carried out as agreed in the plans. Often I will lay out and plant new plants.
